BAYER TO PAY $10 BILLION DOLLARS TO RESOLVE ROUNDUP CANCER LAWSUITS
In June 2020, Roundup maker Bayer AB announced a blockbuster $10 billion dollar settlement to resolve cancer lawsuits connected to its weed killer Roundup. Bayer faced tens of thousands of cases linking the active ingredient in Roundup, a chemical called glyphosate, to an increased risk of developing Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. To put these claims behind them, Bayer paid $8.8 billion to $9.6 billion to settle approximately 95,000 cases. Bayer still faces 30,000+ cases from plaintiffs who have not agreed to participate in the settlement.
How Much Will The Roundup Manufacturer Pay?
Bayer says the $10 billion dollar settlement included no admission of liability or wrongdoing. As a condition of the settlement, Buyer will continue selling the glyphosate based products. It will also not add a cancer warning label to the product.
